Ajinkya & Amrita Jaipur : Simple and fun-filled Maharashtrian wedding in Rajasthan

Ajinkya & Amrita Jaipur : Simple and fun-filled Maharashtrian wedding in Rajasthan

Here’s an effervescent bride and a cute groom with an equally cute love story! Meet Amrita and Ajinkya 🙂

Their story spans across states – Punjab, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Jaipur. Let’s unravel their story now…

Marathi Mulgi Amrita moved to the land of Kulche Chole aka Punjab for work. She was working as a marketing manager for Uber at that point in time. At the same, Ajinkya happened to move to Punjab as well for work. He headed the Punjab region for Godrej FMCG products. So, both were in an alien town without their families and loved ones. Hence, their friends were all they had! And as lady luck planned it, they both met via common friends. But what attracted them to each other was their common language – Marathi! Living in Punjab, away from their family, away from their culture… this friendship was godsent!

Soon they both started hanging out more often and realised they had many things in common. Around this time, Ajinkya’s parents were looking to set him up with a good match. And this is when Ajinkya proposed to Amrita! They had been more than friends for a while and really liked each other. So, the deed was done – Ajinkya took Amrita to meet his parents and well… they loved her!

On the other hand, Amrita’s parents loved Ajinkya on meeting him! And just like that, their wedding was fixed. Now, this was a Maharashtrian wedding and as per expectation, it should have taken place in either Mumbai where Amrita’s parents lived or in their native place but nope… that wasn’t on the cards!

Actually Ajinkya’s family is based out of Jaipur and so, the couple decided to host their wedding in the Pink City. But before we get into the wedding details, here is an interesting backstory as to why ‘Jaipur’?

Three hundred years ago, Ajinkya’s great-great-grandfather was invited by the then king of Jaipur to be their main priest presiding over the rituals. Hence, the entire family moved to Jaipur. And since then, they have made Jaipur their home.

The Wedding

The wedding was hosted at Hotel Aapno Rajasthan and Holiday Resort. The wedding festivities began with the Shrimant Pooja. Here Amrita wore a stunning paithani saree in deep orange followed by a red saree. For her haldi ceremony, as the function demands, she wore a beautiful yellow Anarkali suit with a white jaal work dupatta.

For her mehendi, she wore an off-white lehenga and looked super cute! Ajinkya complimented her in a dark blue bandhgala-dhoti set.

On the day of the wedding, Amrita wore three different outfits! First, a beautiful red saree followed by a beautiful pale blue lehenga. She completed her look with polki jewellery. At the end of the wedding, for the couple’s Griha Pravesh, Amrita changed into yet another heavy paithani – mango yellow with a green border. Ajinkya wore traditional attire too and looked every bit dapper!
