This Crazy Couple Street Dancing is Pure Lockdown Wedding Goals!

New-York Times bestselling author Elaine Welteroth got hitched to her long-time beau and musician Jonathan Singletary in a candid, cool and contemporary stoop-style wedding in Brooklyn. The best part about this marriage was, no COVID-19 norms were flouted and no amount of fun was compromised on too! All thanks to this couple’s innovative way of celebrating their big day. Back home too, we’ve seen how couples are flawlessly nailing their lockdown wedding with some efforts. Be it Manika and Tushar’s intimate home wedding or further in Thailand, Pallabi and Francesco set a trend by getting hitched by the beach.

So guess what Elaine and Jonathan did? After weeks of speculating, both decided that they will not cancel their wedding date as they felt married to it already! 10-05-2020 was a symbolic sequence for them and besides, it was Mother’s Day, paying an ode to the two lovely women who introduced them to each other in church felt perfect. And that is how, Elaine and Jonathan literally ‘saved the date!’

Come d-day, this artist couple had an enthusiastic squad consisting of friends and relatives hooked to their phones and tabs to cheer them up. The most important aspect about their fun virtual quarantine wedding was the ‘stoop’ As New Yorkers without a backyard, a roof-top or escape estate, they were struggling to come up with a place that houses their ‘aisle’ to then walk it down. And then set in the Eureka moment!

What better spot than their stoop on which they’ve often danced, sang and cleared their heads together?!

And This is How it Looked 🙂

And savouring the best for the last, Elaine and Jonathan did something completely cool at their wedding that had even us cheering from miles away! For the handful of guests who did attend the ceremony in person, sanitizers, masks, gloves, white parasols and plant seeds and cookies for wedding favours were provided. Next, to ensure social distancing protocols are followed, they made a standing chart with guest’s names written on the sidewalk where guests had to stand according to their names. And then the finale! This kickass couple played music (with permissions in place) and broke into a delightful dance along with their guests who were in their designated places. And while they all danced, kids and neighbours cheered and held homemade charts to celebrate the spirit of love even in a lockdown!
